Over time, cosmetic tattooing starts to fade. Proper after care can help slow the fading process but to keep your brows picture perfect, retouching will be required. After your initial microblading or Ombre powder procedure a follow-up appointment is required once your brows have healed. This allows the technician to assess the brow and fill in any gaps. Depending on your skin type, further retouching is required after 12 months.
Your First Retouch
Whether you choose eyebrow microblading or Ombre power technique you cosmetic tattooing procedure is generally a two-step process. The initial procedure creates the brow design and may appear a little darker than you expected. In the following weeks your eyebrows will scab and start to heal and there may be small gaps. You will need to come back in to our salon for your follow-up appointment after 6-8 weeks. During this session your healed brows will be assessed by one of our team and small areas retouched to give you a totally perfect result.
Help your Brows Last Longer
There are a number of factors that influence how long your brows will last including your skin type - oily, sensitive and skin prone to eczema or rosacea tend to fade quicker and not hold the pigment as well. Whatever your skin type, you can help your brows last longer by carefully following our after-care procedure and this will be explained to you in detail by one of our technicians prior to your procedure commencing. After the initial healing process, exposure to sunlight as well as certain skin treatments like microdermabrasion can increase fading, meaning you need to retouch your brows sooner. However careful you are though, fading of your brows is inevitable and retouching will be required if you want to keep that fresh and defined look.
Microblading and Powder Ombre Retouches
To keep that fresh, defined look you will need ongoing retouches of your eyebrow microblading or powder Ombre over time. We are all unique and the rate of fade varies from person to person, but as a guide, microblading will start to fade after 12 months so we recommend 12-18 month retouches. Without retouching, after 2 years your microblading will have to be totally redone. The Ombre powder technique inserts pigment deeper under the skin so the look lasts longer. Ombre powder retouches are generally required after 1- 3 years, depending on the style and your unique skin type. Your technician can give you a guide on what to expect with regards to retouches during your initial consult.
Use Only a Professional
Repeated cosmetic tattooing creates tiny incisions in the skin and when performed by someone unskilled or untrained this can lead to scarring. This can be difficult or even impossible to fix which is why it is so important to only have your procedures and retouching performed by a professional. At I-Brauhaus-Chicago all of our skilled and talented team members receive ongoing training so the risk of scarring occurring during a retouching session is minimised. We take care of our clients from the moment you walk in the door and this care continues well after your initial appointment with our skilled team always available to keep your brows looking fresh and gorgeous.
